Prescription home delivery service: how it works

The Patient Choice Delivery website is designed for patients that require us to request a prescription (or repeat prescription) from a GP or clinician – and to have those items delivered to their home for free.

We do this on behalf of the NHS for appliances and accessories in clinical areas such as ostomy, continence, urology, laryngectomy & tracheostomy, wound care, erectile dysfunction, and renal and nephrology. We cannot request prescriptions for medication, which needs to be dealt with by a pharmacy.

If you already have a prescription, then you can still request free home delivery from Patient Choice. Find out more here. Your GP or clinician can also send a prescription to us directly. They will know how this process works.

Patient Choice Delivery

Requesting a prescription

You can use this website to nominate Patient Choice to approach your GP or clinician and request an appropriate prescription in your name or in the name of a friend or family member.

This website is open 24/7 and is the easiest and most convenient way to place a prescription request (order) with us. You can also do this by phone or email, and you’ll find details about this below.

Register or sign in

If you are not a Patient Choice customer, you can register with us on this website in a few minutes. Click here to get started.

If you are already registered, then simply sign in to start placing an order.

Select your products

You can enter your product codes into the search bar at the top of the site. These codes may have been provided by your prescriber. If you are not sure, you can easily browse our products using the drop-down menu at the top of the page.

If you are a returning online customer, you can find your previous orders in your account. From here you can simply re-order a prescription as needed.

Patient Choice can supply ALL available NHS prescription appliances, from any manufacturer. We have no commercial interest in what products you do or do not use.

A simple checkout process

Once you have found your products and added them to your basket you can proceed to the checkout.

Here you will be asked a few questions that will enable our team to process your prescription order efficiently.

Note: the checkout is for prescription products only. If you wish to buy products visit http://patientchoicedirect.com

Who requests the prescription?

If you do not have a prescription, please complete checkout and we will request it for you from your GP or clinician. This will be made clear in the checkout process.

Similarly if you do not pay for your prescription (and have an ‘exemption’) you will find details of how to tell us this at checkout.

Most GP surgeries accept third party prescription requests from dispensing appliance contractors such as Patient Choice. However, if we find that your GP does not accept our request for any reason, we will get in touch with you. This is not common.

We have a great team of staff who will check the accuracy of the prescription we have received, to ensure you are getting exactly what you need. Any errors are dealt with immediately.

Keeping you informed

We always aim to get your prescription order to you as quickly as we can. To do this we follow up with surgeries/clinics and our suppliers regularly to ensure there is no delay to your order.

Occasionally we or our suppliers may not have items in stock and there could be a slight delay to your order.  We will get in touch with you to keep you updated.

Similarly, where orders are made to measure the order process may take a little longer.

Discreet home delivery

Once we have processed the prescription from your surgery, we send your order to you by courier. The item(s) will be delivered in discrete, unbranded packaging to your home or another nominated location.

When possible we will provide a one-hour delivery slot and keep you informed.
